Join us as our host, Mariana Bečková, interviews Tara Svobodová on this week’s edition of the IMSP alumni podcast. Tara recounts her experiences at IMSP, her favorite memories from there, and how she handled her transition to a Czech-English Gymnasium. In 2023, she is finishing up her Gymnasium studies and is looking forward to university.

In Tara’s own words:

“I’m from Prague, I was born here but my mom is originally from Serbia. I’m currently studying at Gymnazium Novy Porg where I transitioned from IMSP after my 5th grade. I studied at IMSP for 8 years. What I remember most fondly was the amount of respect that the teachers had for us, as they treated us as equals which I find really amazing.”

Twenty one years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. IMSP Podcast: Meet Alumnus Caleb Miller

Introducing our first guest on the IMSP podcast series: Caleb Miller. After graduating from IMSP, he moved back to the United States, finishing his university degree. Caleb and our host, Mariana, chat about independence in childhood, the benefits of multi-age classrooms, and what advice he has for current IMSP Elementary students. Communicating with the Toddler Child

As teachers, we are often asked what special tips or tricks we use to get children to cooperate. Most often parents ask questions like “How can I get my child more interested in dressing and eating by themselves?”or “How can we make the mornings run more smoothly?” It can feel challenging when our patience is tested, but we must remember that children are learning to develop their own will and sense of obedience which is a natural process lasting until around six years of age.

Help! How Can I bring Montessori Into my Home?

You may see your child doing all kinds of productive work at school and then it seems that they are a completely different child at home. Does this happen to you? Toys lying all around the house and maybe your child does not want to clean up, or perhaps you are stuck with a sink full of dishes after dinner with no offers to help. There are some simple adjustments and additions that can easily be made in your home which will help you and your family build a happier and more cooperative household.
