IMSP Podcast: Meet alumna Tara Svobodova

Join us as our host, Mariana Bečková, interviews Tara Svobodová on this week’s edition of the IMSP alumni podcast. Tara recounts her experiences at IMSP, her favorite memories from there, and how she handled her transition to a Czech-English Gymnasium. In 2023, she is finishing up her Gymnasium studies and is looking forward to university.

In Tara’s own words:

“I’m from Prague, I was born here but my mom is originally from Serbia. I’m currently studying at Gymnazium Novy Porg where I transitioned from IMSP after my 5th grade. I studied at IMSP for 8 years. What I remember most fondly was the amount of respect that the teachers had for us, as they treated us as equals which I find really amazing.”

Twenty one years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. Our Life in Lockdown

Six Months as an IMSP Toddler

It has always been my priority to bring my kids up to be independent and curious and to treat them as my equal, if somewhat smaller in size; Montessori education therefore held a great appeal when it came to choosing a kindergarten. It has been six months since my daughter, who is just about to turn three, started attending IMSP and it is a joy and a privilege to observe how she thrives and develops.

Forest Exploration with Toddlers

At IMSP we are fortunate enough to have access to a forest right on our doorstep. This offers invaluable opportunities for our toddlers to explore the natural world with the support of their guides. Interaction with the natural environment provides mental and physical health benefits for children and adults alike and allows children to be inspired by the world around them, away from their usual home or classroom environments.

Cooking With Children can be fun

It is often said that “the family that eats together, stays together”. We would like to suggest taking it a step further – and encourage every family to cook together, too. In Montessori, we know that kitchen work provides a host of benefits to children, all the way from toddlers to adolescents; it is a part of the Practical Life curriculum as soon as children can walk! However, its advantages are in no way tied to the classroom and can be just as easily – if not more so – applied at home.

Helping your Toddler on their Path of Development

Parents today are constantly surrounded by images and ideas of what their children should or shouldn’t have and it can be overwhelming trying to decide what is best for their child’s development. Every parent wants to make good decisions when it comes to the items you choose to bring into your home, but how do we know which ones are more or less beneficial than others?
