IMSP Podcast: Meet alumna Mariana Beckova

"My three words to describe IMSP are independence, fun, and curiosity!"

On this special edition of our IMSP podcast, we switch it up by having our podcast host interviewed instead! Born and raised in the Czech Republic, Mariana Bečková has been an IMSP student since the beginning. She later transitioned to English College in Prague and is currently studying for her Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology with a focus on childhood and trauma. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, acting, and modeling, as she is also a Miss Grand Czech Republic winner!

Mariana Beckova - alumni podcast Montessori škola

In this episode, Mariana looks back to her IMSP experiences and memories, recounting how she still uses her Montessori education as an adult, and how she managed her transition from IMSP to another school and later, university. She also shares some advice for elementary students!

Twenty one years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary last year, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. Tune in and learn more about their experience in the IMSP classroom and what Montessori means for them today.

Magic mat

There are a few things typical to Montessori classrooms worldwide that might give the casual observer a pause. Picture it: you walk into a beautiful Casa environment, full of children working, many of them on mats rolled out on the floor. The students moving through the room know to step between mats, never on them. Of course, in the beginning of the school year it took many presentations, repetitions and reminders to instill this routine in the students.

Forest Exploration with Toddlers

At IMSP we are fortunate enough to have access to a forest right on our doorstep. This offers invaluable opportunities for our toddlers to explore the natural world with the support of their guides. Interaction with the natural environment provides mental and physical health benefits for children and adults alike and allows children to be inspired by the world around them, away from their usual home or classroom environments.
