A warm welcome to this week’s guest on the IMSP alumni podcast, Laura van Steeg. Spending her early years immersed in Montessori education, Laura went on to study at a secondary school that shares this same educational framework. Speaking with our host Mariana, Laura reveals how her time at IMSP helped ease her transition into a new community. Drawing on her Grace and Courtesy lessons, Laura was ready to take on the world.

Hello, my name is Laura van Steeg and I’m 17 years old. I started going to IMSP when I was in third grade and then I left after the fifth grade to go to Duhovka Gymnazium. I love acting in the theatre and I’ve been a part of the Montessori Model United Nations.

The purpose of the Grace and Courtesy curriculum in Montessori is to offer our children the best possible assistance on this path. Veronika wanted to be a teacher from her childhood. Despite this she was graduated from Legal Studies at the Charles University. After having her first child, she fell in love with Montessori and her dream job came true. She devoted her career path to being a Primary Montessori teacher.

IMSP’s LIDOVÉ NOVINY

Introducing IMSP’s LIDOVÉ NOVINY, a Czech-language newspaper written, edited, and assembled by our Upper Elementary students. This project was inspired by renowned Czech writer Karel Čapek. Čapek, best known for inventing the word „robot“, was beloved for his versatile and multi-genre pieces. Bouncing between modern fairytales, short stories, travel-logs, and biographical work, Čapek also had a particular affinity for the feuilleton, a short newspaper essay designed, not only to inform the reader, but to amuse them as well.
