Abdul Hakeem

In 2015, IMSP adopted a Kenyan child in partnership with the Centrum Dialog charity, which promotes charitable adoptions of children from a variety of African nations with the goal of assisting their academic journey and helping them through tough times.

Abdul Hakeem, now 14, recently sent us an update on how he's doing, thanking IMSP for helping him since he was a baby in nursery school. He is now in 5th grade at Utu Montessori School in Nairobi, Kenya (Utu means humanistic in Swahili). He often sends us letters in which he updates us on his progress; he enjoys his classes and works hard at his lessons. In his last letter, he expressed gratitude to IMSP for covering his tuition and purchasing his books, school uniform, and bag. He always concludes his letters on a happy note, wishing us all the best in health and happiness.

We are always happy to hear that he is doing well and thank Centrum Dialog for helping facilitate such a wonderful project!

Reading from a Young Age Matters

From illustrated facial expressions and body language the child can also tell emotions.  Enjoying a good book raises a love and passion that is necessary for prereading skills.

Bouncing between modern fairytales, short stories, travel-logs, and biographical work, Čapek also had a particular affinity for the feuilleton, a short newspaper essay designed, not only to inform the reader, but to amuse them as well.

Communicating with the Toddler Child

As teachers, we are often asked what special tips or tricks we use to get children to cooperate. Most often parents ask questions like “How can I get my child more interested in dressing and eating by themselves?”or “How can we make the mornings run more smoothly?” It can feel challenging when our patience is tested, but we must remember that children are learning to develop their own will and sense of obedience which is a natural process lasting until around six years of age.
