Join us as our host, Mariana Bečková, interviews Tara Svobodová on this week’s edition of the IMSP alumni podcast. Tara recounts her experiences at IMSP, her favorite memories from there, and how she handled her transition to a Czech-English Gymnasium. In 2023, she is finishing up her Gymnasium studies and is looking forward to university.

In Tara’s own words:

“I’m from Prague, I was born here but my mom is originally from Serbia. I’m currently studying at Gymnazium Novy Porg where I transitioned from IMSP after my 5th grade. I studied at IMSP for 8 years. What I remember most fondly was the amount of respect that the teachers had for us, as they treated us as equals which I find really amazing.”

Twenty one years ago, IMSP opened its door for the first time. This podcast series follows Mariana Bečková — IMSP alumna and graduate of the program — as she shines a light on her fellow Montessori graduates. Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we are taking time to reflect with students who have been with us along the way. Top 3 Winter Activities for Toddlers

We know that when schools are closed and children are at home for the holidays, it can sometimes be a challenge to come up with new, interesting ideas of things to do with your toddler. Mindfulness: A Key Part of Our Elementary Curriculum

If you visit the Upper Elementary at IMSP on any school day in the late morning, you would hear a gentle bell ring at around 11:20. The students clean-up, and by 11:30, they gather on the classroom carpet and light a candle. A teacher sets a timer. At the sound of a bell, they begin their 5-minute awareness/mindfulness practice.

Embracing the Multi-Age Group

It is no surprise to hear parents expressing doubts about a multi-age classroom, and questioning how children of different ages could work together harmoniously in the same environment, and if there are any benefits to this approach.

Holiday Baking With Your Toddler

It's beginning to look a lot like winter - with first frosts and early dark, but also bright twinkling lights and seasonal decorations wherever you look. Is it any wonder that we populate the long, cold nights of December with candle light, evergreens and the smells of a myriad festive treats? So many delicious flavours belong firmly at the close of the year - hot chocolate and sweet tea, spiced pies, delicate cookies and savoury roasts, all keeping us cozy and warm as well as full.

Introducing one of our Primary teachers, Ms. Lisa from Western Australia, who has been with IMSP since 2017. Since coming to Prague she has furthered her love of work in early childhood education and completed an AMS (American Montessori Society) Early Childhood (ages 3-6) Teacher Certification.
